Zach Johnson Foundation/Kids on Course

The Zach Johnson Foundation was created in 2010 by professional golfer Zach and his wife, Kim, who wanted to make a positive and lasting difference in his hometown of Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The Board of Directors identified gaps in the community in terms of programming and effective efforts to interrupt the cycle of poverty. The Foundation created the Kids on Course program based on the Communities in School model, which brought opportunities and support to students in a way that removes barriers to learning and success such as transportation and language. The program provides free tutoring, mentoring, enrichment and family engagement strategies to children who attend nine, high-needs schools in the Cedar Rapids Community School District. Kids on Course follows children throughout their educational experiences, starting in first grade all the way through high school graduation with the goal of putting them on a path to post-secondary education. Kids on Course is a program of the Zach Johnson Foundation and serves 1,000 plus students in the Cedar Rapids Community School District. The goal of Kids on Course is to close the opportunity gap so all students can be on a path for post-secondary education. This nonprofit eliminates barriers, engages families, supports learning and enriches lives.  To learn more, visit www.kidsoncoursecr.com or www.zachjohnsongolf.com.
