NAMI Linn County, one of 13 Iowa chapters of the National Alliance on Mental Illness, has a critical mission: Improve the lives of people and families affected by mental illness through support, education, and advocacy. NAMI Linn County offers a support group for persons recovering from mental illness, and one for their families. Their education offerings include an evidenced-based, eight-week NAMI program for family members of persons with severe mental health issues. They sponsor forums and a speaker’s bureau. They provide internship opportunities to local college students as training for future leaders in mental health. NAMI Linn County serves Linn County and neighboring counties with free services, with NAMI signature programs available online or in-person. Anyone may attend, volunteer, or become a NAMI Linn County advocate.
