The mission of Shelter House is to provide safe shelter and help people improve the quality of their life as they move beyond homelessness. Shelter House is more than a roof and a bed-operating a 70-bed emergency shelter in addition to four homes and a housing-first complex that provides 47 permanent supportive housing units. The organization has a focus on programs and support services that includes housing, employment, and mental health recovery for hundreds of men, women, and children annually. Moving beyond homelessness, Shelter House keeps children in school, help men and women get back to work, assists people with disabilities and elderly for access to benefits and health care, and moves individuals or families into their own homes.
