Empowering Youths of Iowa

Empowering Youths of Iowa (EYI) works with Cedar Rapids public school youth at risk of school dropout or failure due to the pandemic, derecho, neglect, poverty, academic struggle, and more. Staff and mentors promote a growth mindset by empowering them to set and pursue positive life goals. EYI programs include the Summer Credit Recovery Program and the After-School Program. The Summer Credit Recovery Program is an eight-week program that provides support to youths who have failed courses and are behind in graduation credits. EYI staff, mentors, and tutors assist students as they take previously failed courses using Edgenuity, an online credit recovery program. The After-School Program offers support to high school students with their current school courses. From 10AM to 6 PM M-F, students work on study skills, career exploration, credit recovery, course completion.
