Area Substance Abuse Council

Area Substance Abuse Council (ASAC) is a private, nonprofit organization, operating under the governance of a dedicated volunteer Board of Directors. ASAC is licensed by the Iowa Department of Health and Human Services to provide a wide spectrum of services aimed at preventing and treating the misuse of substances such as alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs. ASAC is one of the largest and most comprehensive substance abuse prevention and treatment agencies in the State of Iowa. Outreach extends to the seven counties of Linn, Benton, Jones, Jackson, Dubuque, Delaware, and Clinton.
ASAC’s mission is to provide all-encompassing, easily accessible behavioral health services offered with dignity, respect, and non-judgment to reduce the impact of substance use and gambling disorders on the people within our communities.
