Bur Oak Land trust

Bur Oak Land Trust is a grassroots land conservation nonprofit that has permanently protected and restored natural areas like prairies, woodlands and water corridors in eastern Iowa since 1978. The land trust increases local biodiversity by removing invasive plants and harvesting and planting native seeds, ensuring habitat for vulnerable wildlife like the endangered rusty patched bumble bee and Indiana bat. Thousands of hours of fieldwork are done each year by members of the land trust’s AmeriCorps program. Members also support the community through disaster relief efforts. Bur Oak provides the community with deeper connections to nature through free and open access to eight preserves year-round, and free events.
